Compare both chairs individually
Measure width, depth, overall height and seat height. Compare armrests, back angles and visible repairs on both examples. A pair may have been restored differently. The former title referred to the 1950s, beech and red upholstery; these remain details to verify rather than confirmed identification of an available pair.
Inspect beneath the seat
Request photographs of the frame, joints and connections between the legs and seat structure. Ask about movement, glue repairs and reinforcement. New upholstery can conceal parts of the frame, so find out what was inspected during the work. Have a competent restorer assess suitability for the level of use you intend.
Budget the complete seating project
Look at seams, corners and areas under tension, and distinguish the covering from the filling beneath it. If reupholstery is planned, ask for separate estimates for frame work, filling and fabric. For a reception area, test the arrangement with its table and circulation routes before adding more furniture. Attractive proportions still need to work for the people using the space.
